Lab members had a chance to visit the famous pinelands, as well as other ecosystems in New Jersey. Dwarf forests of pitch pine (Pinus rigida), whose origin is still unknown, and Atlantic white cedar (Chamaecyparis thyoides) marshes, in which the famous “New Jersey Devil” resides, made the trip memorable from more than one point of view.
